Gym Member SMS Opt-In and Messaging Program
Last updated: August 28, 2026
Amped Technologies, Corp (“Amped”) provides gyms and fitness centers with a dedicated phone number their members can text. This page explains how a member joins that program, what they receive, how often, and how to stop.
This is a separate messaging program from the one described on our coach messaging page, and it is registered separately. The two work differently, and the difference is the first thing below.
You sign yourself up
A member joins by filling in a sign-up page hosted by Amped for that specific gym, usually reached from a QR code or a printed link at the front desk. The page asks for a mobile number and a first name, and carries a consent checkbox that is not ticked in advance.
The checkbox reads:
“Text me facility updates, class reminders, and check-in messages from [Gym Name]. Msg & data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.”
Consenting is not a condition of membership, and not a condition of any purchase. A member who does not tick the box is not signed up and is not messaged.
A gym cannot upload its member list to message
The sign-up page is the only way a phone number becomes messageable. A gym may send Amped a member export so the system knows who has recently visited, but that file cannot enroll anyone: it updates records for members who already gave consent themselves, and it ignores every number that has not. This is enforced in the software, not left to policy.
Amped does not buy, rent, or obtain phone numbers from third-party lists, and does not share member numbers between gyms or with any other Amped customer.
The first message you receive
Immediately after signing up, the gym’s number sends one confirmation, before anything else:
“You’re signed up for texts from [Gym Name]. Msg & data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELPfor help.”
What you receive
Messages from your gym, in three kinds:
- Answers to what you ask. Class times, staffed hours, guest and freeze policy, amenities, quiet and busy periods. These are replies to a message you sent.
- Facility updates. Schedule changes, closures, and similar notices from the gym.
- Check-in messages. If you have not been in for a while, the gym may send a short message asking how you are getting on. There are at most two of these, and the second comes no sooner than a week after the first.
Messages may be drafted with AI assistance on the gym’s behalf, and gym staff can read and take over any conversation. Every conversation is between you and that one gym.
Frequency and cost
Message frequency varies — these are conversations, so how often you hear from your gym depends on what you ask and what is happening at the facility. Amped does not charge you for messages. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message at any time. You will receive one confirmation and then no further messages from that number. Reply START if you later want to resume.
Reply HELP for help, or email support@joinamped.ai. Stopping texts does not affect your gym membership in any way. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
